CLUB MEETING / POT LUCK LUNCHEON JANUARY 29, 2012

There will be a club meeting and potluck luncheon at the Huron Pointe Sportsman Club on January 29, 2012. The meeting will start at 10:30 AM. There will also be an election of officers and a presentation of awards achieved this past year.

Huron Pointe Sportsman Club is located at: 35800 E. Twenty Eight Mile Road, Lenox, Michigan 48050.

If you have a nomination or if you are planning to run for a club office, please contact Rick Horn or Steve Pitiglio as soon as possible.

If you are planning to bring a dish to pass, please contact John Nowakowski–586-790-3485.

The trap, skeet and sporting clays ranges will be open. Just a reminder–No dogs are allowed in the club house.

The December meeting will take place Monday evening, December 12, 2011 at the Gander Mountain Store on Hall Road and Schoenherr. The meeting will be from 7:00PM until 9:00PM

Training Days at Omega Farms Sept. 10th and 24th

We will be training at Omega on September 10th and 24th We will meet at 9:00am at the Sales Barn. The cost is $10 per dog, $25 for three or more dogs. You will have to sign a waiver if you haven’t already.

There isn’t any structure to this training day. Those that attend should bring their equipment (wingers, holding blinds, one or two thawed ducks, bucket, gun with poppers) and set-up a finished test on land and water. The handler will decide how he wants to run the test when he gets to the line (including moving the line) depending on the level of his dog. In other words, the throwers and the blind stays where they are, the dog moves up to a reasonable distance. This is just my idea, it’s not cast in stone. Feel free to change it as you see fit.

I would like to see everyone who runs a dog help set-up, teardown, and throw a few birds. If you run two dogs, work twice as much.

Heritage Days and Club Meeting August 28, 2011 8:00AM

There will be a club meeting at the Heritage Days at Huron Point Sportsman Club, 35800 East Twenty Eight Mile Road, Lenox, Michigan 48050.

The schedule for the day:

8:00AM Set up

9:00AM Club meeting

10:00AM Children start running dogs.

4:00PM Closing.

There will be designated parking across from the area where the club will set up the equipment. At 9:00 there will be a club meeting–Please attend as this will be the final preparation before the club hunt test.

Over the past years we have had 150 children run a dog on a bumper retrieve and receive a ribbon. Bring your dog and plan on helping with this club event. This is a great way to get out information about our club to the general public. There will be hot dogs and hamburgers for lunch, bring a dish to pass. Omega Farms Training Day

I want to set up a training day or two at Omega Farms. We would start at 8:00am and meet at the Sales Barn. The cost is $10 per dog, $25 for three or more dogs. You will have to sign a waiver if you haven’t already.

Please answer the poll questions so I can determine how to proceed. What days are good for you if you intend to attend? If there isn’t enough interest in our club to hold a training day, should we invite other clubs?

Which days are you free to attend a training day at Omega Farms? Should we invite MI HRC and Central MI HRC club members to join us at our Omega Farms training

Hunt Test Setup September 2, 2011

The club will be setting up for the hunt test at Omega farms on Friday September 2, 2011. Setup will start at 11:00AM.

Anyone interested in helping with this club activity should contact Kevin Bone. There is a lot of work involved with putting on this test and this is a great opportunity to support the club and fellow members. Please consider helping with this important club function.

FALL HUNT TEST SEPTEMBER 3rd, 4th 2011

The club will be hosting a back to back fall hunt test September 3rd and 4th 2011 at Omega Farms. The location is 4900 M-52, Williamston, Michigan. Test dogs will run at 8:00 AM. The hunt test premium is available on line at the Hunting Retriever Club web site.

Friends of Wetzel State Park Spaghetti Dinner Fundraiser

There will be an all you can eat spaghetti dinner at the Huron Pointe Sportsman’s Association, 35800 28 Mile road. The dinner fundraiser will be from 6:00pm to 8:00pm.
